This Privacy Policy sets forth the privacy practices that apply to your use of www.edgesofkindness.org (the "Site"), our products and services, and our social media profiles (collectively, "Services"). This Privacy Policy describes what types of information are collected, how the information is used, and with whom the information is shared. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, services, or applications, even if they are accessible through the Services.

1. Collection of Your Personal Information

a. User-Provided Information

In order to better provide you with the Services offered on the Site, Edges of Kindness may collect personally identifiable information, such as your:

  • Donation information, including amount, date, and frequency of gifts

We use a third-party payment provider to process donations and do not collect or store credit or debit card information on our Site, systems, or servers. All credit or debit card information is encrypted in transit.

We do not collect any Personal Information from you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. However, you may be required to provide certain Personal Information to us when you elect to use certain features or Services available on the Site. These may include: (a) registering for an account on the Site; (b) signing up for special offers or programs; (c) sending us an email message; (d) signing up for email newsletters and other communications; (e) completing surveys; (f) volunteering or registering for events; (g) requesting items through our distribution programs. We will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to Services you have requested from us.

Information about your computer or mobile device hardware and software may be automatically collected by Edges of Kindness. This information is used for the operation of the Services, to maintain quality of the Services, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Site.

 

c. Use of Cookies

  • Processing donations and issuing tax receipts

  • Managing volunteer applications and coordination

  • Administering distribution programs and item requests

Edges of Kindness does not sell, rent, or exchange lists of names or personal data to any individual or organization for marketing or promotional purposes, nor do we share donor names or contact information externally without your permission.

We may engage third-party service providers to work with us to administer and support our operations. These third-party service providers generally have access to your Personal Information only for the purpose of performing services on our behalf. Examples include hosting our web servers, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, processing donations, and providing customer service. All such third parties are prohibited from using your Personal Information except to provide these services to Edges of Kindness, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Edges of Kindness may disclose your Personal Information, without additional notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Edges of Kindness or the Site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Edges of Kindness; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Site or the public.

We may disclose aggregated data that does not contain personally identifiable information to third parties, such as partners and funding sources, in order to describe our operations and impact.

Please understand that it may take us a few days to process any opt-out request and that even if you opt out of receiving promotional correspondence from us, we may still contact you in connection with your relationship, activities, and transactions with us.

 

SMS Communications

If you have opted in to receive text messages from Edges of Kindness, you understand that message and data rates may apply and that message frequency may vary. Text the word HELP at any time for additional support, or contact us by email at hello@edgesofkindness.org. Text the word STOP at any time to stop receiving messages from Edges of Kindness. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

  • Have us delete any data we have about you

5. Data Security

Edges of Kindness uses various security measures to ensure the safety of your Personal Information. Edges of Kindness does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13, and the Site is not intended for users who are under 13 years old. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information of a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.

 

9. Your California Privacy Rights

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, California residents may request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Edges of Kindness does not disclose Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Edges of Kindness reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time.
